Simmer Dim

Sorry the blog’s been rather quiet, I’ve been away in Andalucia (fantastic place – go immediately). My holiday knitting over the past two weeks has been mostly this:

Simmer Dim is a fab shawl pattern by Gudrun Johnston. It has a really interesting construction but it’s still a fairly simple knit. You start with a garter stitch triangle, with yarn overs along each side and then very easily pick up the yarn overs to do the edging. It makes a nice change from the usual triangle shawl and knits up quickly. It’s also perfect if, like me, you prefer to wear shawls as scarves as it sits around the neck very comfortably without slipping around or sliding off. I used Pharos from Flamboyance Yarns, which is a superwash merino/nylon sock yarn and the resulting¬†fabric is lightweight with a lovely crisp, clean feel to it. ¬†This one’s going to be a gift, but I may have to make it again for myself!

I love this pattern – I’m trying to decide whether I want to make this or Henslowe. Your version came out great. I like to wear my shawls as scarves as well and this pattern looks really wearable.
