Lace sweaters tends to make me a little nervous – I worry that they can appear too fussy and twee (at least on me at any rate).

No such concerns with this pretty number from Through the Loops. Zelkova is an aran-weight cardigan, with a simple but effective lace leaf pattern on either side of the button bands. The long line and three-quarter sleeves keep the chill off but also make it good for layering as the weather starts to warm up, whilst the waist shaping and the columns of lace are flattering.

It's knit all in one piece from the bottom up, on 6mm needles, so should move fairly quickly. The yarn used in the sample  (the Fibre Company Road to China) is a dreamy-sounding combination of alpaca, silk, camel and cashmere, which gives it a soft and cosy drape.
