My love affair with shawls continues, in this case with the Traveling Woman pattern.

The yarn is the beautiful Wellington Sock Yarn from The Thylacine;Â A jeweled sock yarn made from superwash merino with 25% nylon, which gives it a lovely crisp, cool feel, and excellent stitch definition. The colour is a little more green than the picture implies, and not quite as uniform, ranging from a rich emerald to a deep teal.

The pattern has turned out really well, although I found it a bit more complicated to follow than Ishbel. It’s not massively complex, but the written directions for the lace involve a wider repeat, so I found it harder to get into the swing of it at first. The pattern includes charts, but I often have trouble following charts.
I just followed the basic instructions for the smaller size, but it’s easy to make a bigger shawl by doing a larger stockinette section or more repeats of Chart A. It blocks out really well into a soft curve, with gentle points along the edging, and it has a much wider ‘wingspan’ than Ishbel, so it’s perfect for wearing as a scarf as it’s easily long enough to wrap around your neck and stay in place.
I had some yarn left over, so if I make this again, I think I’ll do at least one more repeat of Chart A. But I love this shawl and look forward to taking it on my travels…

It’s gorgeous !! it will now be on my queue
