Knit Nation

The fabulous Alice, of Socktopus fame, and Cookie A, of Monkey sock fame, have teamed up to create Knit Nation, a new knitting expo right here in London this summer. Yay!

Celebrating knitting, crochet and spinning, there will be classes from world-renowned instructors such as Nancy Bush, Anne Hanson, Judith MacKenzie McCuin, Clara Parkes, and Shirley Paden covering everything from how to crochet or how to spin to more advanced design topics.

The marketplace will feature fibre artisans including the coveted Wollmeise, American Blue Sky Alpacas, Canadian Qiviuk and European indie dyers such as Fyberspates, Old Maiden Aunt, Skein Queen, Renaissance dyers, alongside local London yarn shops and Scottish designer / internet phenomenon Ysolda Teague.

If that’s not enough, an after-hours Saturday night Ravelry party will be the perfect opportunity to hang out with fellow fibre fiends and compare your treasured yarn booty. I expect the odd cocktail may be in the offing as well.

It all takes place 29th-31st July at Imperial College in South Kensington, a few steps away from the beloved Victoria & Albert Museum. You can find all the info you need and purchase tickets at www.knitnation.co.uk

As for me, well I’ve started saving the pennies so that I can head on over there and treat myself to some yarn goodies. I’m also planning on podcasting from the event. Yes indeed, the Sheep will be very much out and about and hoping to say hello to all of you. Watch this space for more info…
